THE HEART IS DECEITFUL

Image
"The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind. I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be." Jer:17v9

STRIVING AFTER THE WIND

Image
"I said to myself, "I know more and I'm wiser than anyone before me. I've stockpiled wisdom and knowledge. What I've finally concluded is, that so-called wisdom and knowledge are mindless and witless - nothing but spitting into the wind. And I applied my mind to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is but a striving after wind." Ecc:1¹6

DON'T LOOK FOR SHORTCUT

Image
"Don't look for shortcuts to Life, to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don't fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life - to God! - is vigorous and requires total attention". Matt:7¹³

DON'T WATCH THE WIND

Image
Go to work in the morning and stick to it until evening without watching the clock. You never know from moment to moment how your work will turn out in the end. Before the Years Take Their Toll Oh, how sweet the light of day, And how wonderful to live in the sunshine! Even if you live a long time, don't take a single day for granted. Take delight in each light-filled hour, Remembering that there will also be many dark days And that most of what comes your way is smoke. You who are young, make the most of your youth. Relish your youthful vigor. Follow the impulses of your heart. If something looks good to you, pursue it. But know also that not just anything goes; You have to answer to God for every last bit of it. Live footloose and fancy free - You won't be young forever. Youth lasts about as long as smoke. Remove vexation from your mind, and put away pain from your body: for youth and the Dawn of Life are Vanity. Ecc:11v6-10

EVIL HEART

Image
Your enemy shakes hands and greets you like an old friend, all the while convincing against you. When he speaks warmly to you, don't believe him for a minute; He's just waiting for the chance to rip you off. No matter how cunningly he conceals his malice, eventually his evil will be exposed in public. Pvb:26²⁴

GOD AT THE CENTER

Image
Those who trust God's action in them find that God's spirit is in them - living and breathing God! Obsession with self in this is a dead end; attention to God leads us out into open, into a spacious, Free life. Focusing on the self is the opposite of focusing on God, ends up thinking more about self than God. That person ignores who God is and what He is doing. And God isn't please at being ignored Rom:8v6
Yet He is not far from each one of us,  For in Him we live and move and have our being; For we are indeed His offspring. Acts: 17v27-28

The Wise

Image
And then he prayed, “God, I’m asking for two things      before I die; don’t refuse me— Banish lies from my lips      and liars from my presence. Give me enough food to live on,      neither too much nor too little. If I’m too full, I might get independent,      saying, ‘God? Who needs him?’ If I’m poor, I might steal      and dishonor the name of my God.” 10  Don’t blow the whistle on your fellow workers      behind their backs; They’ll accuse you of being underhanded,      and then  you’ll  be the guilty one! 11  Don’t curse your father      or fail to bless your mother. 12  Don’t imagine yourself to be quite presentable      when you haven’t had a bath in weeks. 13  Don’t be stuck-up      and think you’re better than everyo...

The Beatitude

Image
www.genesysquote.wordpress.com Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you're working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. This is what God does. He gives his best; "the sun to warm and the rain to nourish, to every one regardless: the good and the bad, the nice and nasty"..... If all you do is Love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? anybody can do that. If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal? any run-of-the-mill sinner can do that. "In a word, grow up, you're kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously towards others, the way God live towards you,  Matt: 5v44-48
